A LITTLE PENGUIN. A VERY BIG DREAM. VITAL THEATRE COMPANY PENGUIN GOES TO FLIGHT SCHOOL
55-MINUTE SHOWTIME
BASED ON THE POPULAR CHILDREN'S PICTURE BOOK
BOOK BY CARA LUSTIK
ACTORS TEMPLE THEATRE NEW YORK, NY (October 5, 2026) — Sundays Nov 1 through Dec 27 at Actors Temple Theatre, PENGUIN GOES TO FLIGHT SCHOOL extends its sold-out limited run with nine additional performances through the holidays. Vital Theatre Company's family musical opened September 27 and plays Sunday mornings at 11:00 AM at Actors Temple Theatre, 339 West 47th Street, in the heart of the Broadway district. The extension carries the production through the end of 2026. PENGUIN GOES TO FLIGHT SCHOOL is a live musical for children ages 2–7 — a 55-Minute Showtime with no intermission — about a little penguin with a very big dream and the friends who help him get it off the ground.
The popular children's picture book "Flight School" written and illustrated by Lita Judge. An earlier New York production, then titled FLIGHT SCHOOL THE MUSICAL, was praised by The New York Times as "a charming adaptation." Critic Laurel Graeber called David Mallamud's score "music worthy of bigger stages" and the production "simple and straightforward enough to be understood by a 3-year-old, but engaging enough to amuse a parent." Performances for the extension are Sundays, November 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 and December 6, 13, 20 and 27 at 11:00 AM at Actors Temple Theatre, 339 West 47th Street in New York City. A 55-Minute Showtime with no intermission, recommended for children ages 2–7. Tickets for the November and December performances are $79.50 for the front row of the VIP Orchestra, $49.50 for the Premium Orchestra and $29.50 for the Balcony. Tickets from $29.50. VITAL THEATRE COMPANY was founded in New York City in 1999 and has presented more than 100 original productions. The company has been honored with the 2012 Off-Broadway Alliance Award for Best Family Show and American Theatre Wing Awards for Continued Commitment to Excellence in Theatre in 2006 and 2007.
